Hammock

The conception of the hammock started by thinking of the users comfort, easy transportability, and rapid assembly. The hammock is modelled as a mold to the back of the human figure to ensure comfort. There are 31 white ash wooden-slices of 5cm that have different section curvatures. Each of the slices is spaced between one another by a rubber ball that has been drilled in the middle to pass the rope through. Each wooden slice has a knob detail at each end to connect to the rope. Each knob has been calculated to an approximate range of its position within the hammock overall curvature. In this way, the piece fits right in and gets locked in place assuring for a rapid assembly. Because the pieces are easily put in place, the hammock can be customized to fit different heights by creating a greater space between the wooden slices.
