Kurgi Observation Tower

The intent of Kurgi Tower is to create a playful landmark that will enhance the scenery of the countryside. The profile was designed as a continuous spiral. This gives the illusion of the tower emerging from the ground, almost as if it were a part of the earth itself. Red was chosen for the color as it catches the eye in a pleasing manner and has a high visibility.

The tower’s helix pattern features flattened portions at various heights and alternating sides. This is to provide comfortable terraces where viewers can enjoy the surrounding scenery while not being burdened by continuous staircases or uneven flooring. The profile of the tower tapers and narrows near its peak so that interactions can happen between participants on different floors. With these design additions, climbing the tower provides an exhilarating sensory experience in all directions.
