Design Studio III @ NJIT

The objective for this project was to design an Early Childhood Education Center in downtown Newark, New Jersey. The site presented some challenges where students had to negotiate the programs to create classroom, activity areas and open spaces for the various age groups. This project started by examining fragmentation patterns with circular shapes. The process of fragmentation is experienced through the upper levels where the building peels away to create outdoors spaces that are visually connected to create a sense of community and curiosity between all different ages in the education center.
