Computational Design @CCNY

The computational design class was divided in three main parts to introduce the students to computational thinking and fabrication. In the first part of the semester, students were asked to design and 3D print an architectural surface-pattern system using form-finding techniques with physics based simulation tools. This surface geometries were analyzed using emergent agent-based processes to apply pattern and evaluate performative aspects of the designs. Finally.,students were asked to model a piece of their geometry applying a computational subdivision pattern to that surface to create a physically fabricated model.
